About this tour
Brownsberg Nature Park can be found just a few hours' drive from Paramaribo. Via the Afobaka Road we continue our way to the foot of the mountain. On the way you will learn more about the savannah landscape, the authentic villages you pass and the history of Suriname.
The nature park covers 12,000 hectares, so you can spot a large part of the flora and fauna that Suriname has to offer in this area. Besides the great diversity of flora and fauna, the Leo Waterfall and the Irene Waterfall can also be found in Brownsberg Nature Park. The top of the Brownsberg offers a breathtaking view over the rainforest and the reservoir in the district of Brokopondo.
During the walk to the waterfalls it is possible to spot not only the plants and trees of the area but also many animals. The area has eight different species of monkeys, a great diversity of birds, various snake species and much more.

Around 7:30 a.m. we leave the city for Brownsberg Nature Park. On the way there is a short stop for a nice breakfast. After this we continue to the top of the mountain. Once at the top it is time for lunch while enjoying the wonderful view the Brownsberg has to offer.
After lunch we walk to the Leo Waterfall and, if possible, the Irene Waterfall. This walk goes through the rainforest, which offers the chance to spot beautiful flora and fauna. You can also take a lovely cold shower of spring water at the waterfalls. After visiting the waterfalls it is time to return to the top of the mountain. After that we return to the city.
